AFL3B Renato Nunez is off to a hot start in the Arizona Fall League with four longballs in 11 games and a line of .304/.347/.609 for the Mesa Solar Sox.

The Oakland A’s #6 prospect is coming off of a successful season at AA Midland that was only slowed by leg injuries that limited him to 93 games.

The 21-year old Nunez was signed as a 16-year old in 201o and has performed well while climbing four levels. His first full season was 2013 at loA Beloit and he was up to the challenge: .258/.301/.423. Last year at hiA Stockton was even better. In the hitter-friendly California League, Nunez went off for 29 HR, 96 RBI and a .279/.336/.517 batting line.

With hiA Stockton in 2014

2015 saw Nunez move up to AA and only the power dropped off as he hit .278/.328/.473 with 18 homers and 61 RBI over 93 games.

Now playing in the AFL with other elite prospects, Nunez has the lethal bat going again in the first two weeks of action. 2016 should see the Venezuelan at AAA and it wouldn’t be out of the question for a big-league callup to happen at some point. Raking in Arizona this Autumn certainly will help.
