SS Carlos Correa, the top pick in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft, has been called up by the Houston Astros. It was a quick journey through the minor leagues for Correa, slowed down only by a broken leg last season.

His first year of full-season baseball was 2013 at loA Quad Cities and Correa excelled with a .320/.406/.467 batting line and excellent defense. He hit even better at hiA Lancaster last year before the injury ended his season after 62 games.

Any concerns that the injury would hamper his progress were quickly silenced when Correa dominated at AA Corpus Christi (.385/.459/725 in 29 games) and played flawlessly at shortstop.

After 24 games at AAA Fresno, the Astros have called up their prized prospect. Along with RHP Lance McCullers Jr. and OF Preston  Tucker, Correa is the third member of Houston’s excellent 2012 draft class to make the majors.
