MLB APPOINTS COMMITTEE FOR COMMISSIONER SEARCH

With Bud Selig’s days as MLB commissioner winding down, a committee has been formed to find his successor. Selig, who was appointed commmisioner on July 9, 1998, will step down from the post in January of 2015.

The committee chairman is Cardinals CEO Bill DeWitt Jr. and will include six other owners: Dick Montfort (Rockies), Dave Montgomery (Phillies), Arte Moreno (Angels), Bob Nutting (Pirates), Jim Pohlad (Twins) and Jerry Reinsdorf (White Sox). The next commissioner will be voted in by all 30 owners, with 24 votes required.
