The SEC had a marquee matchup this weekend as Friday-night aces Aaron Nola (LSU) and Tyler Beede (Vanderbilt) hooked up. The Tigers won 4-2 as Nola went 6 2/3 innings, allowing one run on six hits with two walks and 12 K’s.
Beede wasn’t bad, but his defense let him down some. The junior righty went 7 1/3 and both runs he yielded were unearned. Beede stuck out seven and walked one while giving up three hits.
The LSU (8) vs. Vanderbilt (7) matchup was one of many significant top-25 games played in NCAA baseball as the weekend started. Baseball America has a recap of the action here.
