PRICE, RAYS AGREE ON 1YR/$14MM DEAL

tampa-bay-rays-script-logo-primaryThe Tampa Bay Rays avoided arbitration with ace David Price with a one year/$14MM deal, MLB.com’s Adam Berry is reporting. The Rays are not known for spending big money or giving long-term deals, but they didĀ give the 2012 AL Cy Young Award winner the biggest one-year deal in the franchise’s history.

This follows yesterday’s announcement that the Dodgers had locked up Clayton Kershaw for seven years and a record $30.7MM average annual value. That takes two recent Cy Young aces out of the arbitration mix while Detroit’s Max Scherzer is still out there.
