CUBS’ BRYANT OFF TO TORRID AFL START

3B Kris Bryant, the #2 overall selection in the 2013 First Year Player Draft, played well in 36 minor league games this year but he is starting off even better in the Arizona Fall League. After six games and 26 ABs, Bryant already has four HRs and 12 RBI to go along with a slash line of .423/.448/.962. Yeah, that’s an OPS of 1.410, and that might not hold up, even over the short AFL schedule.

But Bryant has brought his big bat with him from the University of San Diego and it helped him to earn a piece of Player-of-the-Week honors that he shared with the Brewers’ Mitch Hanigan after one week of play.

Bryant figures prominently on the AFL leaderboards in many categories and he has company from familiar names like Baltimore’s Henry Urrutia and fellow Cubs prospect Albert Almora. Follow all the intriguing prospects on the Arizona Fall League page on MLB.com.
