MACHADO INJURES KNEE, MRI TODAY

UPDATE: No torn ligaments
Manny Machado’s MRI went better than most had feared as it revealed that the ACL and MCL were NOT torn. His prognosis is much better as he is expected to be out of action for 6-8 weeks.

Orioles 3B Manny Machado had his breakout year come to an end last night in Tampa Bay as he stepped awkwardly on first base, injuring his left knee. The 21-year old phenom had shot a ball past 2B Tim Beckham of the Rays and appeared to be pulling up as he went through the 1B bag. But as he went to touch the bag, his foot appeared to get stuck in place as the knee turned and Machado went down immediately in great pain. He was carted off the field and an MRI is scheduled for today.
