GIANTS’ TOP PROSPECT CRICK HAS OBLIQUE STRAIN

RHP Kyle Crick  was forced to exit his start against Inland Empire on Thursday after 2 IP due to a strained oblique muscle. Crick is ranked as the San Francisco Giants’ #1 prospect by both Baseball America and MLB.com.

In the two innings he pitched Thursday, Crick allowed 1 hit and 2 walks with 3 strikeouts. Early on in the young season, he has a 0.93 ERA over 9 2/3 IP with 9 walks and 12 strikouts.

Crick was a supplemental draft pick in 2011 (49th overall) out of high school. His plus fastball usually sits at 93-95 mph and he backs it up with a hard curveball, according to BA. After a stint in the AZL league in 2011, he spent 2012 at loA Augusta where he went 7-6 with a 2.51 ERA and 128 strikeouts over 111 IP.
