The Watch List section has been updated to include Manny Machado in the playoffs and Chris Owings in the Arizona Fall League.

The Giants and A’s entered yesterday facing elimination and both earned victories and a Game 5 chance to advance. Bruce Bochy isn’t messing around with his starting pitchers and he went and got Barry Zito in the third inning with a 3-2 lead and one runner on base. George Kontos got them out of the inning and when Tim Lincecum came on in the fourth, he was the Giants’ fourth pitcher. It all worked as Lincecum threw 4 1/3 solid innings, striking out six, to earn the win. Lincecum out of the bullpen is paying off big in this playoff series.

Later, the A’s did what they’ve been doing all year by shocking the Tigers in the ninth inning with three runs and a victory. Josh Reddick singled off of closer Jose Valverde and Josh Donaldson doubled him to third. Seth Smith doubled them home to tie it. Two outs later, Coco Crisp made his bid for a pie in the face and a gatorade shower with a single to right to drive in Smith. The sold-out Coliseum crowd erupted, Bernies everywhere, and Reddick did the honors with the shaving cream pie.

Good times in the Bay Area the last couple of days.

Today, theĀ Giants try to finish off the improbable road comeback in Cincinnati (1PM ET, TBS) while Oakland goes for a series win at home (9:30PM ET, TNT).
