INTERNATIONAL SIGNING PERIOD BEGINS

Today is the first day MLB teams can sign international players for the following season. With the new collective bargaining agreement, clubs can spend up to $2.9M on international prospects from July 2, 2012 to July 1, 2013 but they will also be able to sign at least six players for $50,000 or less and an unlimited number of players for $7,500 or less without having them count against their limit.
