Dodgers OF Matt Kemp told Fox Sports’ Joe Buck in a live on-air interview today that he would be DH’ing with hiA Rancho Cucomonga on Tuesday. Also today, Dylan Hernandez of the LA Times reported that Kemp will return to the Dodger lineup on July 13th against the Padres, the first game after the All-Star break.
Kemp will serve as the National League’s captain in the Home Run Derby during the All-Star break, and he said Saturday that he would be participating as well.
Over the last 45 games, Kemp has played just a little more than one full game due to a hamstring injury. The Dodgers maintained the best record in baseball until a couple of weeks ago but are now in a tailspin that has seen them fall to second place in the NL west. Futility at the plate is a leading cause as LA has been shut out in five of the last six games.
