PARKER IMPRESSES IN A’S DEBUT

A’s RHP Jarrod Parker made his season debut at the big league level Wednesday and went 6 1/3 solid innings in Oakland’s extra-inning win over the White Sox. Parker was a key piece in the trade with Arizona this off-season that sent righty Trevor Cahill to the Diamondbacks.

Over his 6 1/3 IP, Parker allowed seven hits, one ER, one BB and five K’s. 62 of his 99 pitches were strikes. The A’s held a 2-0 lead after six innings and Parker got the leadoff man, A.J. Pierzynski, to ground out in the top of the seventh. Alex Rios singled, Kosuke Fukudome doubled him in, and Parker’s day was done.

The A’s went on to win in 14 innings, 5-4.

The A’s – Diamondbacks trade took place on December 9, 2011 with Cahill and Craig Breslow going to Arizona in exchange for Parker, Ryan Cook and Collin Cowgill.
