ROSS, A’S STRUGGLE IN JAPAN

It doesn’t count in the standings, but the Oakland A’s tuned up for their 2012 opener in Japan with a couple of exhibition games. The first game saw the A’s win 5-0 over the Yomiuri Giants behind five strong innings from starter Tom Milone.

The second game was a rough outing for starter Tyson Ross and the Oakland defense as they fell to the Hanshin Tigers by a score of 12-6.

The curtain comes up on the 2012 season on Wedsnesday at 3:10 AM PST when the A’s and the Mariners kick off a two-game set. After returning to the states, the A’s have the exhibition series with the Giants April 2-4 before they resume regular-season baseball at home, again vs. the Mariners, on April 6 and 7.
