Yoenis Cespedes took the field for the first time as an Oakland Athletic on Saturday and made good on his 20-minute hype video, The Showcase. Batting second and playing CF, the 26-year old from Cuba was the center of attention and he responded by going 2-for-2 with a walk and a fourth-inning homer to left.

Cespedes defected from Cuba and signed a four-year, $36M deal with the A’s this offeseason, generating much interest around the world of baseball. During the 2010-2011 seson in Cuba, Cespedes tied the league record with 33 homers. Here’s video from Big League Stew at Yahoo!Sports.
