While the Division Series are nearing completion, there is another season that is just starting in the southwest. The Arizona Fall League kicks off today and the six-team league is a prospect extravaganza.

20 years ago the AFL started as somewhat of an experiment and it didn’t feature the kind of big names from recent drafts that we’re seeing in 2011. Bryce Harper, Danny Hultzen, Anthony Gose and Will Rhymes are a few of the highly-rated prospects that are camping out in the desert for the next month and a half.

The six AFL clubs get their players from a combination of several MLB organizations. For example, the Scottsdale Scorpions have a roster made up of talent from the Red Sox, Angels, Phillies, Giants and Nationals. Not a bad mix, as the Scorpions field a team that includes Harper, Mike Trout and Gary Brown.

Two games are in the books but the Scorpions-Saguaros game scheduled for 6:35 MST has been postponed. Check out the AFL scoreboard here and follow the league all the way to mid-November at the official AFL page.
