RHP Jarrod Parker, the ninth overall pick of the 2007 First-Year-Player Draft has been called up by the Arizona Diamondbacks. Parker pitched for AA Mobile this season, going 11-8 over 26 games with 55 BB and 112 K’s. The Mobile Bay Bears won the Southern League title this weekend so now Parker joins the Snakes as they work to nail down the NL west title.

Parker is ranked as Arizona’s top overall prospect by Baseball America and second by MLB.com. He may have gotten to the bigs sooner if not for Tommy John surgery in 2009 that cost him the entire 2010 season.

The surprising Diamondbacks have gotten a huge boost from 1-2 starters Ian Kennedy and Daniel Hudson. It appears even more help is on the way. Parker, LHP Tyler Skaggs and RHP Trevor Bauer are all highly-regarded pitchers in the Arizona system  making their way up the chain.
