The Seattle Mariners anounced on Wednesda that they have reached an agreement with GM Jack Zduriencik on a multi-year extension. Zduriencik was in the final year of a three-year deal.

Under Zduriencik, the Mariners have acquired 28 of the players on the current 40-man roster and almost half of the 25-man roster is made up of rookies. 2B Dustin Ackley and P Michael Pineda are already regulars on the big-league club while P Danny Hultzen was taken with the second overall pick in the First-Year Player draft in June.

The youth movement has played out even while veterans Ken Griffey Jr., Milton Bradley and Chone Figgins have found their way to Seattle with less-than-positive results.
