The non-waiver trade deadline came and went on July 31st just as it does every year, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the deals are done. The 7/31 deadline is for making trades without putting a player through the waiver process. Trades can still be made this month, but before they can go through, the players involved must clear waivers.
MLBTradeRumors.com (invaluable resource alert!) keeps a list of players that the site has learned of having made it through the waiver process. At this point, Oakland’s Hideki Matsui and Tampa Bay’s Johnny Damon are the only ones on this list. Having cleared waivers, they now can be dealt to any other team, unless they have no-trade clauses.
