METS: EMAUS DOWN, TURNER UP

The Mets designated Rule 5 pick Brad Emaus for assignment on Monday, calling up Justin Turner to fill the corresponding roster spot. If Emaus isn’t traded or claimed in the next 10 days, the Mets have to offer him back to the Blue Jays, or, in the event he is claimed, trade for him if they really want to keep him.

Emaus won the 2B job in Spring Training and went 6-for-37 with  no extra-base hits in 14 games. The Mets plan to platoon Turner and Daniel Murphy at 2B, according to Andy McCullough of the Star-Ledger.

Another busy day of MLB moves included the Phillies placing P J.C. Romero on the 15-day DL, Ubaldo Jimenez of the Rockies coming off the 15-day DL and Brewers P Shaun Marcum going on the bereavement list.
